Seven Vows in Hindu MArriage

According to Hindu shashtra Marriages are made in Heaven. There is seven lifetimes of Humans and after the marriage the souls of groom and bride are joined for the seven lifetimes. These Seven vows are the seven promises to each other. There is unseen bond of protecting each other between bride and groom. According to hindu shastra the Seven Vows are also knows as Saptapadi (Pheres). In the Saptapadi the bride and groom walk around the scared fire. The corners of bride’s saree and the groom’s Uttariya are tied in a sacred knot by the priest.
Seven Vows Are :
1. The first vow is the prayer to the Lord for provision and nourishment
2. The second vow is for strength in sickness, health, good times or bad
3. The third vow is for prosperity
4. The fourth vow is for families; to stand by them through thick and thin
5. The fifth vow is for progeny
6. The sixth vow is for health; through sickness and in health
7. The seventh vow is for love and friendship
